TOTAL BALANCE GROUP PHILOSOPHY
Some people would say that there's no such thing as ‘total balance’. But we’d like you to consider the possibility that
once you identify your own version of 'balance' you can make a
significant difference to how much enjoyment you get from your life.
Our philosophy is that achieving balance is about taking a holistic
approach.
The term balance as we would define it, merely relates to a state of
mind. It isn't about having equal amounts of time or energy for work
or for all of the things you’d like to include in your personal
life. It’s about a sense of inner harmony more than anything else. The state
you feel when nearly everything is ‘in sync’ in your life. We say
nearly, because the most important point for you to remember is that
you don’t need to seek perfection to feel a sense of balance. In
fact, giving up perfection is the first step and most important part
of the process.
You need to be
willing to be yourself...to allow yourself to shine, just as you are
at this moment in time. To feel comfortable with your own personal
values and beliefs and to be able to express your needs. Balance means taking
the best possible care of your health and remembering
to create space for laughter and lightness in your life.
A balanced state of mind means accepting life’s challenges as well
as life’s joy, it means keeping an open mind, letting go of control
sometimes, embracing change, learning from
failure and being willing to strive for something better.
It means being brave enough to face your fears and never giving up
on your dreams. As well as learning to accept the way things are,
it's also asking 'what can I do to make it better?'.
It means connecting with yourself and others in a way that is
authentic and honest. Asking for what you want, giving up judgement,
accepting that your loved ones won't always be able to meet your
every need, being willing to forgive and being open to both giving
and receiving love.
Balance means expressing yourself creatively. Creativity isn't just
about painting or playing music, it's about finding activities that
take you out of your comfort zone that enable you to explore all of
the possibilities available to you.
It means taking the time to smell the roses. We believe there can be
too much focus on 'achieving' and not enough on enjoying the
journey. It's a delicate balance managing both but we're interested
in teaching you how.
And it means giving back to society in some way. Regardless of how
big or how small your gesture is, it's about the understanding that
we all have the need to belong to something bigger than ourselves.
Once you achieve
a state of relative balance, we can pretty much guarantee you, it
won't be permanent. Life is an ever changing cycle of events
that we know to be far from predictable. The scales will always be
tipped one way or the other.
Real balance is about being flexible enough to know when you need to
shift your weight ever so slightly to gain a better state of
equilibrium.
Our
philosophy is that life should be lived by the following eight principles:
1. Give up
perfection
2. Be yourself
3. Nurture your
health
4. Keep an open
mind
5. Connect
6. Express
yourself creatively
7. Slow down
8. Give back
